Most people who live around Lake Toba are ethnically Batak. There are 5 different Batak ethnics - Batak Karo, Batak Simalungun, Batak Toba, Batak Pak Pak and Batak Mandaling.

There are various places that you can visit in Tomok Village. Besides having a walk in the market to shop for souvenirs, one can also visit the King Sidabutar Tomb and Batak Museum there.
