100 Years of Medan Post Office


Medan Central Post Office celebrated its centenary in 2011. Built from 1909 to 1911 during Dutch colonial, this colonial building has served its function as the post office of Medan since the beginning. The structure of the building is domed shaped and is decorated with stained glass and chandelier.

No stamp is issued to commemorate this centenary event. Only the commemorative cover is issued by Medan Central Post Office. The stamp design for Sumatra Utara Province issued under the Provincial Emblems series in 2010 is affixed on the cover instead.

A LIL' NOTE

Although the stamp is issued on 13 Dec 2010, the cancellation on the cover is on 5 Oct 2011, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the post office.
