Oedolgae, Jeju

Oedolgae, also known as Lonely Rock, is a solitary basalt formation, formed at a time of volcanic activity, when geyser-like eruption was spewed from beneath the earth's surface and solidified. This amazing rock is 10 metres in circumference and 20 metres in height.

Another name for Oedolgae, General Rock, comes from a legend whereby General Choe-Yeong disguised this rock to appear like a giant military general. Enemy soldiers, upon seeing this giant military general, were so terrified that they committed suicide.

Oedolgae is also a shooting location for the famous Korean drama, Dae Jang Geum, or known as Jewel in the Palace.
