Cultural Instruments and Artefacts

Being a multi-racial country, Malaysia is blessed with a rich culture, arts and heritage, some well represented by the various cultural instruments and artefacts. Some of these instruments and artefacts are used in daily life and even religious activities such as weddings.

The following cultural instruments and artefacts are the focus of this stamp issue :

1.  Jebak Puyuh, a quail's trap
2.  Bekas Bara, an ember container
3.  Sireh Junjung, the beetle nut leaf arrangement
4.  Penggendong Anak, a baby carrier

The Sireh Junjung is still widely being used today as the main gift in Malay wedding - the gift that heads the rest of the gifts, known as hantaran.
